Born out of the artist’s dream, Jeans for Refugees has grown into a global art project in less than a year. Started by Johny Dar, the initiative inspired 101 celebrities to donate their jeans to the cause. The artist painted each of the 101 pairs of denim by hand, applying a range of colors in his recognizable abstract style and creating a one-of-a-kind collection of wearable art. Seeing jeans as perhaps the most democratic of all garments, the artist puts an emphasis on equality and blurs the line between celebrities and the anonymous. A world traveler himself, Dar strives to connect people of the Earth in a manner of JR or Banksy, praising humanity above all other qualities.

Therefore, every pair of jeans painted by Johny Dar is more than a unique haute couture piece - it is a symbol of a greater fight for equal chances for all in a borderless world.
