East London Painting Prize: offering local artists a life-changing opportunity Applications are now open for the East London Painting Prize, offering artists living and working in east London the chance to win a £10,000 cash prize and a solo exhibition in a unique east London gallery.
The East London Painting Prize has been created by The Legacy List and Bow Arts, with kind support from the Goldhill Family and the Zabludowicz Collection. The prize, now in its second year, honours the life and work of painter and philanthropist, Jack Goldhill.
The prize celebrates the incredible talent and diversity of artists living and working in the boroughs of east London. It is open to both established and emerging artists of all ages living or working in Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Havering, Waltham Forest, Barking and Dagenham and Redbridge. An influential panel are in charge of selecting the shortlist and eventual winner, including artist and painter Phoebe Unwin (Wilkinson); editor of ArtReview, Oliver Basciano; Programme Director at the Zabludowicz Collection Elizabeth Neilson; founder of Launchpad, Sarah Elson (Contemporary Art Society & Bow Arts Trustee); winner of the East London Painting Prize 2014, Nathan Eastwood, and representative of the Goldhill Family, Michael Goldhill.
Shortlisted artists will take part in a group show with prize event. The selected winner will receive a £10,000 cash prize and a prominent solo show at the Nunnery Gallery. The winning artist will also have the opportunity to form part of the significant panel in the 2015 East London Painting Prize.
