Calling new and emerging designers, visual artists and makers to submit applications for £7000 design commission.
The ‘MAP’ artwork will adorn the foyer of the new National Theatre of Scotland building, and serve as a creative acknowledgement of the new building’s supporters and donors.
National Theatre of Scotland invites proposals for an artwork, based on ‘the map of Scotland’, to be sited in the foyer of the new National Theatre of Scotland Centre in Glasgow, designed by RIBA award-winning architects Hoskins.
The artwork will serve as a reminder of the National Theatre of Scotland’s commitment to performance across all areas of Scotland, from the major cities to the smallest communities, and will be the focal point of the entrance to the Company’s new headquarters. The ‘MAP’ artwork will also function as a platform to acknowledge the contribution of donors and supporters of the new building, serving as a creative version of a traditional ‘donor wall’. Whilst a significant proportion of the overall budget has been secured, allowing construction of the new building to begin in Summer 2015, fundraising activities are ongoing. The early commissioning of ‘MAP’ will enable the National Theatre of Scotland to approach potential donors with a clear indication of how their support for the new building will be recognised and represented.
